Privacy Policy

Who we are, and in which role

IloByte Innovation operates IloByte Pro. We handle personal data in two distinct roles, and which one applies to you changes what this policy means for you.

  • As a controller — for people who visit our website, request a demo, receive a quote, or subscribe to our updates. We decide what is collected and why, and this policy governs it.
  • As a processor — for everything a customer records inside their IloByte Pro account: their own customers, staff, sales and accounts. That data belongs to them. We process it only on their instructions, to deliver the service. We do not market to our customers' customers, and we never use the contents of a customer's account to build our own marketing audiences.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, and company details when you register.
  • Business Data: Financial records, inventory data, customer information, and other data you input into the platform.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our Service, including pages visited and features used.
  • Device Information: Browser type, IP address, and device identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process transactions and manage your subscription
  • Send you important updates about the Service
  • Provide customer support
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, regular backups, and access controls. Each tenant's data is isolated in separate database instances.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Service Providers: Third-party services that help us operate the platform (hosting, email, analytics).
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. After account termination, we retain it for 30 days to allow for data export, then delete it permanently from our systems.

For data we hold as a controller (see above), the periods are:

  • Website analytics and advertising data — 24 months from your last visit, then deleted.
  • Enquiry and quote records — 7 years where they form part of our accounting records; otherwise deleted once the opportunity is closed.
  • Marketing consent records — for as long as we rely on them, plus 3 years, so we can show what you agreed to and when.

6. Your Rights

You may ask us to:

  • Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete it
  • Stop using it for a particular purpose, or restrict how we use it
  • Send it to another provider
  • Withdraw a consent you previously gave — as easily as you gave it

You can object to marketing at any time. Every marketing message we send carries a one-tap way to stop, and replying STOP to any WhatsApp message from us takes effect immediately.

Write to privacy@ilobyte.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use three categories on our public website, and you choose which to allow:

  • Necessary — signing in, security, and remembering your preferences. These cannot be switched off because the service does not work without them.
  • Analytics — how our website is used, so we can improve it: which pages you viewed, how you arrived, and whether a page answered your question.
  • Marketing — measuring which of our adverts bring people to us, and showing our adverts to businesses likely to find IloByte Pro useful. These involve the partners named below.

You are asked when you first visit, and nothing is switched on before you answer. You can change your choices at any time from the Cookie settings link in our website footer — withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and takes effect immediately.

8. Advertising partners

Where you allow marketing cookies, we will share a hashed (irreversibly scrambled) version of your email address or phone number with Meta Platforms and Google so they can measure our adverts and show them to people with similar interests. We never send them your name, your business records, or anything you have stored in IloByte Pro. We are not yet running adverts on these platforms; when we begin, this is exactly what will be shared and nothing more. These companies process data outside Nigeria; we rely on your consent and on the safeguards in their published data-processing terms for that transfer.

9. Our lawful basis

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 we rely on:

  • Consent — analytics cookies, advertising, and marketing messages.
  • Legitimate interest — keeping our site secure and preventing fraud.
  • Contract — delivering a service you have signed up to, including sending you a quote you asked for and telling you when it was opened.
  • Legal obligation — where the law requires us to keep records.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through a notice on the Service.
